This project by Douglas Mackie, located just outside London, was created with the client’s collection of 20th-century British Art in mind. Many pieces of textiles and contemporary furniture were commissioned exclusively for this house.
From an art studio to this 19th-century house in London. Over the 2 years that took to renovate the space, all the internal joinery was replaced to transform this extensive basement into this amazing colorful style.
It took one year to renovate this warm-colored project from the 18th century. Located in the heart of Marylebone, London, the design blends contemporary art, antique textiles, and custom-made furniture, creating a cozy and elegant home.
A luxury combination of the new and the old. Douglas Mackie chose to combine 18th and 9th antiques with handcrafted furniture to compose this project. It was a major refurbishment of a 6 floors townhouse, in the classic English style, as it was briefed by the client.
The designer’s bet was an inspiring Classical English interior mixed with great post-war American design on this London apartment. He opted for vintage wall lights by Tommy Parzinger and a rare Edward Wormley desk chair to complement the rich environment with a touch of color. A carefully thought layering job.
