Following the tradition of producing quality products for children, Danish brand Cam Cam Copenha- gen, has launched a new furniture series for children, named ‘Harlequin’. The series includes chairs, a bench and a table, as well as the existing doll’s bed, changing table and a baby crib. The name Harlequin refers to the rhombus-shaped pattern, known from the Pierrot la Lune ballet, providing children and adults with smiles and laughter through centuries.

When asking Founder/ Creative Director of Cam Cam Copenhagen, Sara Camre, about the design of the furniture, she explains: ‘We always aim at creating contemporary products with a reference to classical design. Our design has to be original, meaning it is our unique idea, but at the same time have a degree of familiarity – maybe it reminds you of something from your own childhood. The familiarity arises in people with classical references, like the Harlequin pattern, because you have seen it in other constellations previously, maybe on a piece of fabric, maybe painted on an old dresser from your grandmother’s attic. We also create classical references in the detailing of the furniture, creating a level of craftsmanship seldom found in modern furniture.

‘I just want to create a harmonious world of dreams and poetry for the little ones, which inspires them, soothes them, makes them giggle and light their imagination. If we succeed with that, I am a happy person, Sara continues.’
